SHIFTING PERCEPTIONS OF
MEXICAN DESIGN AT LONDON DESIGN WEEK.
Welcome to the largest and most far-reaching assembly of Mexican product design and design-art that has been presented in London. In this space, you will have the opportunity to experience highly sensitive, qualitative, precious as well as utterly unique Mexican design with a social impact.
Through the work of around 30 staggering designers, craftsmen and brands, the exhibition uncovers emerging talents and protagonists in Mexico’s creative design scene.
Discover more than 100 objects, ranging from raw materials such as black obsidian, silver, glass, and semiprecious stones to handcrafted textiles inspired by huichol patterns and the ancient tradition of “día de los muertos”. A media section will reveal eclectic insights into editorial design from 2000 - 2018, via 200 book publications and local design magazines.
Mexican design culture has become a catalyst for social and sustainable design. Innovation has emerged as a solution to the dichotomy of past living with present, traditional with modern, designers collaborating with artisans. These collaborations are crucial to preserve traditional artisan processes and avoid their disappearance.
